Recovery Friendly Trainings

Recovery Friendly Montana provides trainings and presentations to help your business become better educated on the topics of substance use and recovery, as well as related subjects, such as suicide prevention. Trainings may be:

  • Offered at specific times - OR - by request;

  • Offered in-person, virtually or available online;

  • Designed for all employees, or for Admin/HR/managers;

  • If there is a topic that your business is interested in, but we do not have a training for that topic listed, we would be happy to discuss developing one to your needs. Chances are that it might be beneficial to others as well.

  • REMEMBER: all trainings are free to RFW Designees and their employees.

Just Five Training

Just Five delivers – in just five minutes per lesson - the most important concepts and facts regarding addiction. Learn who’s at risk, how to know if a person has a substance use disorder, and more. Invest just five minutes per module to better understand this illness. Modules include: The Science of Addiction; Are You At Risk?; Signs, Symptoms & Treatment; How You Can Help; Words Matter (stigma reduction); Stages of Change; The Gift of Recovery; The Dangers of Prescription Opioids; Fentanyl: Get The Facts: and Supervisor Training.

Audience: Any/All Employees 50 minutes for all 10 modules


Overdose Prevention and Response Training

Learn about the signs/symptoms of an opioid overdose and learn when and how to use naloxone in response. A discussion of overdose trends, harm reduction, and recovery resources will be included. All employers and/or participants will have the opportunity to receive naloxone at no cost.

Audience: Any/All Employees 1 hour


Taking a Look: Assessing Your Workplace

Learn what tools and assessments you can utilize to help implement the RFW initiative in your workplace.

Audience: HR, Managers, RFW team members 1 hour


Talk Saves Lives: Suicide Prevention in the Workplace

Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S. and Montana’s Department of Health and Human Services reports that Montana’s suicide rate has ranked among the five highest in the nation for the past 30 years, hitting number one from 2019 to 2022. Suicide remains the leading cause of preventable death for ages 10 to 14 in Montana, where youth die by suicide at triple the national rate, according to DPHHS. This training is offered in collaboration with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to help employees understand the protective factors that can lower suicide risk, receive guidance on warning signs and behaviors, and ways to seek and offer support resources for self or others.

This training will teach you where to obtain treatment and recovery resources for both substance use and mental health disorders. Learn where to go to find the information you need to support your employees or self.

Becoming a RFW Peer Champion (in development)

This training is for those employees inside your organization who may serve as a Peer Champion – an ally to anyone who is struggling with substance use and/or who is already in recovery but may need support at work. A Peer Champion serves as a confidant and a liaison between the person with a SUD, your company’s managers, supervisors, and outside support.
